Hermes
Every payer. One gateway.
Hermes is Paladyn's payer-connectivity gateway. It carries claim-status and eligibility traffic to the payer world — direct payer APIs, clearinghouses, and Medicare rails — and returns one normalized answer the rest of the platform can act on.
What it does
Every payer answers differently: one has a modern API, another only speaks through a clearinghouse, Medicare has its own rails entirely. Hermes maintains a routed catalog of how to reach each payer — UnitedHealthcare's direct APIs, Availity, Optum, Stedi, and Medicare's HETS and MAC gateways — asks the right question over the right rail, and normalizes every response into one status language. Argus uses it to keep AR status current without a human touching a portal.
Capabilities
- Real-time claim status (276/277) across payer and clearinghouse APIs
- Routed payer catalog — direct APIs first, clearinghouse fallback
- Medicare connectivity: HETS eligibility and MAC claim-status rails
- Eligibility (270/271) and prior-auth (278) rails on the same gateway
- Normalized status events with a tamper-evident audit trail
How it works
Route
Each inquiry is matched to the best rail for that payer — a direct payer API where one exists, otherwise the enrolled clearinghouse, with fallbacks recorded.
Ask
Hermes speaks each rail's native protocol — X12 276/277 and 270/271, JSON APIs, Medicare's CORE gateways — over secure, credentialed connections.
Feed
Every answer is normalized into one status model and delivered to Argus and the Aegis warehouse, so AR status updates itself.
Why it matters
Status calls and portal checks are some of the most expensive minutes in the revenue cycle. When claim status arrives on its own — current, normalized, and audit-ready — your team works accounts instead of chasing payers.
Security & compliance
Hermes runs inside Paladyn's HIPAA-aligned AWS environment; payer credentials and PHI never leave it, and every exchange carries a tamper-evident audit trail. Every Paladyn tool is built toward HITRUST and SOC 2, with PHI controlled per our standards.
